I was never a big fan of the bloody mary, until I had it freshly juiced tomatoes. This, right here, is the cocktail that may actually have the power to cure that hangover . . . and give you a new one, when you can’t stop drinking them! You can make them fancy, with heirloom tomatoes, but no one will judge you if you just use whatever’s getting squishy.
1 large tomato
Half a cucumber
1 inch bell pepper
1 clove garlic
2 oz vodka
Black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and horseradish to taste
Juice the veggies. Fill a pint glass with ice, and add the vodka. Pour the juice over the veggies, and add the condiments. Strain into another glass, or serve over ice. Garnish as you please.
Suggested variations:
-For a richer red color, and even earthier taste, add a beet
-For a spicier drink, substitute jalapeno for the bell pepper
-For a more traditional, thick texture, or if you just don’t have a juicer, use a blender
